HEXAGONAL WEAVE BASKETS

These baskets are woven using the traditional technique of openwork hexagonal weave, with one or more interlaced layers. Often, the Japanese technique of "midare" is used, an irregular random plaiting. From Bamboo Baskets by Maggie Oster: "More than any other form, irregular plaiting challenges the.... artist.
